Gorge du Verdun

Lac de Verdun, the lake is the most amazing copper sulphate blue, due to reflection of the white particles in the water. It is a great place to go boating (sailing or rent a pedalo or windsurfer) or simply drive round the lake .

This photograph is taken looking down into the mouth of the gorge, which is the deepest in Europe. You can take a pedalo up the gorge, walk down into it, drive round it, or simply sit and marvel at the beauty of the scenery. Many amateur artists sketch and paint the amazing views.

On the way round  watch out for climbers scaling the sheer walls of the gorge.
